The chi is rooted in the feet,
Springs from the legs,
Guided by the waist,
Expressed in the hands.

Tai Chi 5 day intensive courses at Tao Garden Chiang Mai

Andre will teach you the form and the inner structure of Tai Chi

The course consists of 4 hours of expert instruction per day 2 hours in the morning and two hours in the early evening, with plenty of time for private practise.

The tai chi form should be fluid and continuous, even during position changes, giving the appearance of a slow, flowing river. Keep all of your movements round and smooth. This will give ease and strength to your posture, and your energy will be able to flow unimpeded.

Use the conscious mind to guide the movements - 'The mind should lead the body'. This will develop deep concentration. The tendons spiral alternating with counter forces around the bone.

"Power comes from the ground" This is the mantra we repeat at Tao Garden. unless you are transfering the earth force up from your heels and moving the chi through your body and expressing out through your hands, you are really wasting your time. Master Chia calls most of Tai Chi practiced in the west "tofu tai chi" to describe the almost soft dance like movements. This is because the inner structure and rooting are not taught in the first few years, and sometimes never.

Many times someone will attend a Healing Tao retreat who has been practising Tai Chi many years and Master Chia will point out the lack of rooting. Take advantage of this system and really learn Tai Chi the way it should be learnt. Contact me here.
